Pest Control Services

Tree & Shrub Pests – EAB, Japanese Bettle, Bagworm, & More

Protect Your Home and Family

Our outdoor spaces are used for a myriad of reasons. They act as “curb appeal” for passersby, venues for both large parties and our own personal retreats. They are the places our kids learn to ride bikes and play catch with their friends, a place our employees can gather together in the sun, and a place our pets can stretch their legs. For all these reasons, a good landscape should be a functional, inviting space for those who work, live, and play in it.

Unfortunately, the appeal of our outdoor spaces is not limited to the people we invite in. Arachnids, insects, and rodents find refuge in our lawns and trees, in the nooks and crannies of our home’s foundation. These pests can devour our ornamental plants and gardens. Some sting and bite. Others carry disease. All of them have the potential to spoil our outdoor experiences. If left untreated, pests can damage turf, injure plants, affect soil, damage irrigation systems, and in the case of mosquitos, ruin a night under the stars.

CM’s offers a variety of services depending on your needs and the specific pests threatening your lawn and landscape. Our solutions can include the use of traps, injections, and sprays. Our certified turf and tree care experts have the experience and knowledge to accurately diagnose problems from common pests such as moles, ants, and spiders, as well as more specific threats like Japanese Beetles and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).

Mosquito Control

For most of us, mosquitos are a nuisance that ruin the pleasure we take from outdoor activities. Nothing spoils playing catch with our kids or enjoying an evening on the patio with friends like the incessant mosquito bites too often associated with our Nebraska summers.

For some, mosquitos can cause much more serious problems. The Zika and West Nile Viruses are the most notorious threats to human health, but these are only two of the many potentially dangerous pathogens carried by mosquitos.

Fortunately, our mosquito control options are designed to effectively target these always irritating and sometimes dangerous pests on multiple fronts and at all stages of their life cycle.

Whether we are there for a One-Time Mosquito visit, or one of six visits included with CM’s All-Season Mosquito program, our professionals find and disturb any potential breeding grounds on your property — areas with standing water are among their favorites. We then blow an insecticide mist on the most common mosquito habitats where it kills on contact and the residual remains effective for another 45 days.

Perimeter Pest Prevention

Termites, ants, crickets, and spiders are common household pests found in our area. While some are merely nuisances, others represent significant threats to both our homes and the people that live in them.

Foundation cracks, doors, windows and eaves, and even the spots where utilities enter your home or business are vulnerable areas that are easily infiltrated by these pests.

Prevention is key. Creating an inhospitable barrier along your home’s foundation and in other susceptible spots is the best way to keep these pests from finding their way in — and that is exactly what CM’s Perimeter Pest Prevention (PPP) program is designed to do!

Our program consists of five exterior treatments for year-round protection. Each application is performed by a certified technician to ensure all safety regulations are met and your expectations are exceeded — all with no danger to humans or pets!

Flea + Tick Control

Ticks are an increasing health risk throughout the United States. Here in Nebraska, the most common varieties are the American dog tick (also known as the wood tick), and the Lone Star tick. Both are known carriers of potentially dangerous diseases such as Lyme Disease, tularemia, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF).

Wooded areas and fields are the most common habitats where ticks are found, but these little bloodsuckers are known to travel. Ticks will attach to both humans and pets as we navigate our natural environments.

With the threat of tick-borne illnesses and flea infestation, prevention is a far better option than treatment. Fortunately, CM’s Flea + Tick Control program is designed to protect you and your pets by treating all the parts of your property that may harbor these pests. This includes your lawn, deck and patio areas, and your landscape plantings — especially shrubs and ornamental grasses.

Mole Control

Mole

Moles are yet another pest that many property owners battle every year. They are known to damage not only turf areas, but also landscape beds as they tunnel through the soil in search of food. The first step in taking control of a mole problem is to be sure that it is in fact moles that are causing damage and not another burrowing or surface damaging critter, such as voles.

Moles create bulging tunnels that meander about the affected area. Often, their tunnels will travel straight for at least 3 feet. Moles use these “runs” in search of earthworms, grubs, ants, or any other sub-surface insect that will satisfy its diet.

There are many treatments touted to solve mole problems. One option is to remove their food source with insecticides. While this certainly reduces the risk of mole infestation in the long-term, it will actually cause a brief period in which moles tunnel more aggressively as they hunt for food that is now more limited. Baiting with poison or gassing with smoke produces mixed results and proof of the mole’s demise is difficult as they live (and die) underground.

Trapping is the best option to ensure your mole problems get gone. It is the only method that produces physical evidence that your mole is dead. Certified in Wildlife Damage Control, our professionals set “scissor-style” traps such that they intercept mole “runs” and stop moles dead in their tracks — or tunnels, if you will.

Tree Specific Threats

Various insects will cause severe damage to your trees and shrubs. This damage can range from causing aesthetic imperfection, irreversible injury, and even death of the plant. The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) which feeds beneath the bark of ash trees, Japanese Beetle which skeletonizes foliage, and bagworm that can kill otherwise healthy evergreen trees within weeks, are a few of the most immediate threats to our Nebraskan landscape. CM’s is educated and experienced to not only treat existing problems, but put measures in place to prevent them from happening in the first place.
